SAN DIEGO — Padres All-Star representative Wil Myers will be one of eight contestants in Monday night’s home run derby in San Diego, Major League Baseball announced Thursday.

Myers, who was the National League Player of the Month in June, is tied for 16th in the majors in homers with 19, but 11 came last month.

The home run derby has become a tradition the night before the All-Star Game, which will be played Tuesday at Petco Park. Last year’s winner, Todd Frazier of the Chiacgo White Sox, will get a chance to defend his crown.

Other contestants will be Robinson Cano, Seattle Mariners; Corey Seager, Los Angeles Dodgers; Mark Trumbo, Baltimore Orioles; Adam Duvall, Cincinnati Reds; Carlos Gonzalez, Colorado Rockies; and Giancarlo Stanton, Miami Marlins.

Trumbo leads the bigs with 26 round-trippers.

On Tuesday, Myers was named to represent the Padres in the 2016 National League All-Star team.
