Man steals vending machines filled with candy from Mexican restaurant

NATIONAL CITY, Calif. — Police in National City are searching for a man who broke into a restaurant and stole several candy machines.

The owner of La Lomita Mexican Grill on East Eighth Street near Rachael Avenue told police that someone stole a rack of six candy vending machines around 3:30 a.m. Monday, according to a National City police statement. The glass on the front door had been shattered.

Surveillance cameras at the business captured images of a man wearing a long-sleeved Boston Bruins shirt. The suspect was believed to have fled in a silver Chrysler with oversized chrome rims, according to police.
