‘Tipsy Tow’ service offered on Fourth of July

Feds push lower DUI limit

SAN DIEGO – On the Fourth of July, The Automobile Club of Southern California is offering a last resort free ride service help remove drinking drivers from the road.

Drivers, passengers, party hosts, bartenders or restaurant managers can call 1-800-400-4AAA for a free tow of up to seven miles to the driver’s residence. Callers simply need to tell an operator, “I need a Tipsy Tow.”

The service is available from 6 p.m. on Monday through 6 a.m. Tuesday.

The one-way, one-time service does not include rides for passengers and does not accept reservations. For rides farther than seven miles, drivers can expect to pay the rate charged by the tow truck contractor.
