SAN DIEGO — Two young men have been arrested in connection with eight armed robberies last month in North Park, Normal Heights and University Heights.

Hamza Ali Hagi, 22, and Feysal Salad, 21, were arrested during a traffic stop in the 4900 block of University Avenue early Thursday, San Diego police Capt. Mike Hastings said. Two others in the suspects’ car were initially taken into custody, but they were later released.

Hagi and Salad were suspected of robbing pedestrians in the North Park, Normal Heights and University Heights neighborhoods between May 9 and May 27, according to Hastings.

Their arrests came after investigators identified a suspect vehicle in the heists. Hastings said a subsequent search of the vehicle turned up stolen property and other evidence.

Hagi and Salad were booked into jail on suspicion of conspiracy and several counts of robbery, according to police and jail records.
