SAN DIEGO – A 12-year-old boy who has become the world's youngest Junior Master Scuba Diver was honored Tuesday at The Winston School in Del Mar, where he is a student.

Tennessee Cumming has ADD/ADHD, dyslexia, oppositional defiance disorder and pervasive developmental disorder, any one of which could have prevented him from pursuing the ocean, but instead he has persevered.

He excelled at a series of underwater tests, from how to calm a frantic diver, to performing CPR on a boat, to monitoring his oxygen supply while cutting loose someone entangled in line.

At Tuesday's celebration, Tennessee received a certificate and even took questions from his classmates.

"Every parent wants to see his kid succeed and move into the world and find something they love," his father told FOX 5. "Today was an incredible experience for us."
