A man was stabbed during a fight in the Gaslamp Quarter

SAN DIEGO – A man was stabbed during a fight in the Gaslamp Quarter early Thursday morning.

Authorities believe the victim was stabbed in the abdomen near Fifth Avenue and Broadway shortly after 2:30 a.m. then ran about a block to the south to get help, according to San Diego police Officer Frank Cali.

Witnesses say a table was also thrown into the street, shattering a windshield.

The victim was taken to the hospital and underwent surgery.

A suspect description was not immediately available. Police continue to investigate.
