Firefighter injured in Escondido crash

A firefighter was injured in three-vehicle crash on Old Highway 395 in Escondido Thursday morning.

ESCONDIDO, Calif. – A firefighter was injured in a three-vehicle crash on Old Highway 395 in Escondido Thursday morning.

The driver of a Toyota Tundra rear-ended a Ford box truck that was slowing down and pulling over for a  North County fire truck on its way to a brush fire in the area, officials said.

The truck collided with the fire truck, which lost control and careened into the ditch.

One firefighter suffered “moderate” injuries and was treated and released from Palomar Hospital Thursday.  He w No other injuries were reported.

All lanes of Old Highway 395 were closed south of Camino Del Rey while police investigate.

Alcohol or drugs are not considered factors in the collision.
