SAN DIEGO - A San Diego-based fishing crew was off the coast of Baja, Mexico last week when their boat sank.

A crew aboard a tug boat called Shannon Dann was carrying a piece of a space shuttle back to the California Science Center in Los Angeles when they spotted the four distressed fishermen Thursday night. It stopped to help them from their sinking boat.

The crew arrived in San Diego early Sunday morning and were embraced by family members.

They were fishing on a charter boat named Maximus.
