SAN DIEGO – A motorcyclist collided with a car in Del Mar Heights, sending him to a hospital Sunday.

The biker was heading west on Del Mar Heights Road shortly before 11 a.m. when a car pulled out from a stop sign on southbound Boquita Drive into the bike’s traffic lane, said officer Dan Lasher.

The motorcyclist hit the car’s left front fender, and he flew over its hood. The rider suffered a collapsed lung, a broken wrist and a broken collarbone and was taken by ambulance to a local trauma center for treatment.

Neither driver was suspected of drunken driving, Lasher said. The San Diego Police Traffic Division was handling the investigation.
