IMPERIAL BEACH, Calif. --  Imperial Beach Mayor Serge Dedina says he is tired of chain link fences in his city and throughout the South Bay especially along the bayfront.

Dedina is working with several agencies to bring down the fences.

His plan was recently published in the New York Times as part of an editorial.

"We got our bayfront, for example, and all these ugly chain link fences, we got this beautiful wildlife refuge and probably some of the best views of San Diego Bay and downtown marred by this plethora of ugly rotting chain link fences," Dedina said.

Dedina is not only working with public agencies but also with property owners to take down the fences as a way to beautify neighborhoods and provide access to many areas.
