5 teens suspected of setting fires at school

SAN DIEGO — Five teenagers were arrested Tuesday on suspicion of setting several arson fires at Meadowbrook Middle School.

The youths, Rancho Bernardo High School students whose names were withheld because they are minors, allegedly torched a locker, a poster and a trash can at the Poway campus on March 11, according to sheriff’s officials.

The suspects were questioned and released to their parents pending initial appearances in juvenile court on arson charges, Detective Anthony Portillo said.
