SAN DIEGO -- San Diego County is in for cooling temperatures, a deep marine layer and a chance for more showers this weekend, according to the National Weather Service.

A beach hazard statement is in effect, with strong rip currents and elevated surf expected on southwest facing beaches.

The early part of next week is forecast to be dry with higher temperatures on the way.

Winds in the mountain areas were already showing signs of tapering off Saturday afternoon, with only a few gusts in the 30-40 mph range.
