Man stabbed while trying to stop car burglary in Rancho Peñasquitos

A 39-year-old man was stabbed while attempting to stop a vehicle break-in Rancho Penasquitos, police said.

SAN DIEGO — A 39-year-old man was stabbed while attempting to stop a vehicle break-in Rancho Peñasquitos late Thursday.

The resident confronted the would-be burglar in the vicinity of Socorro Street and Andorra Way around 10:20 p.m. Thursday. The suspect started running away, but the second man was close behind.

As they approached the intersection, the suspect pulled a folding knife and stabbed the victim in his side, SDPD Officer Heims said.

Police officers arrive shortly afterward and took the suspect into custody. His name was not immediately available.

The victim was taken to a hospital to be treated for non-life- threatening injuries.
