GRANADA, Spain – An abandoned dog in Spain is getting a second chance at life after being rescued and rehabilitated by local animal rescue.
A dog named “Barilla” was rescued by Otra Oportunidad, an animal rescue organization in Granada, Spain. She was so malnourished she only weighed 16 pounds.
“She could barely walk on her own,” Otra Oportunidad official said.
The animal care team began rehabilitating Barilla back to a healthy weight. Within a month, she was showing signs of recovery by playing, running and fetching balls.
Barilla was adopted by the head of Albergue de Animales Dog House, a local shelter. She and her owner are currently cycling across Spain to raise awareness for animal abuse.
