SAN DIEGO - A 17-year-old who narrowly escaped death after his truck collapsed on his head thanked his rescuer Tuesday.

Cameron King was changing a tire on his Chevy Silverado when the jack stand failed causing the truck to drop, pinning his head and shoulders into the wheel well.

UPS driver Brian Phillips happened to be driving passed and heard the truck drop. He jumped out of his delivery truck and ran over to help.  A neighbor also ran over to assist with lifting the truck off of King.

“Thank you so much,” King said to Philips.

“I’m just glad to see you are alright,” said Philip. “If that truck had fallen completely to the ground I don’t think Cameron could have made it…I mean he’s pretty strong, but that truck is heavy.”

King said he no longer has that feeling of teen invincibility and he is enjoying every moment to its fullest.
