LAKESIDE, Calif. - A newspaper carrier found a man's body on a Lakeside sidewalk while delivering papers Sunday morning.

Lance Benson, 29, was arrested by San Diego County sheriff's homicide detectives and was expected to be booked into the San Diego Central Jail on suspicion of one count of murder.

The grisly find was at 4:20 a.m. in the 10400 block of Aquilla Drive, said San Diego County Sheriff's Homicide Lt. Kenneth Nelson.

Deputies from the sheriff's Lakeside substation found the victim unresponsive and suffering from trauma to the upper body. Paramedics pronounced him dead, Nelson said.

The victim was described only as a man approximately 35 years old. His identity was not immediately released.

The San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office was scheduled to perform an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

Detectives asked anyone with information about the incident to call the Homicide Detail at 858-974-2321, or after hours at 858-565-5200.
