Helicopter makes emergency landing in Poway.

POWAY, Calif. – A San Diego County Sheriff’s helicopter made an emergency landing at a Poway baseball field Monday.

The chopper, also referred to has ASTREA, was flying southbound over Poway Monday afternoon when the pilot heard an unusual noise, authorities said.  They ended up landing the helicopter safely behind Poway High School’s baseball field.

The aircraft was experiencing mechanical issues when the pilot landed it, according to Poway Unified School District official.

No students or faculty were on the field when it landed as school was out of session for the day.

Firefighters went to the field to make sure everyone was safe as mechanics worked on the issue.
