Man hit while trying to run across South Bay freeway

CHULA VISTA, Calif. — A pedestrian was hit by a vehicle Friday morning on Interstate 805 in Chula Vista.

The man was seen being held back by a woman while trying to run into southbound traffic near Telegraph Canyon Road around 5:15 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol. He had possibly been involved in an earlier non- injury crash.

The victim suffered major injuries and was taken to a hospital, authorities said.

Fire department vehicles responding to the crash temporarily blocked one southbound lane.
