Video shows woman snatching packages from porch, deputies say

A picture of a woman seen walking away with a package in San Marcos was released by San Diego County Sheriff's Department.

SAN MARCOS, Calif. – Deputies are warning people in North County to be on the lookout for a woman accused of package theft in North County.

Surveillance video shows a woman knocking on the front door of a home on Corbel Way before picking up two UPS packages and walking out of the camera’s view. She took packages containing $100 worth of household items.

The video that was recorded on March 31 at 1 p.m. was released by San Diego County Sheriff’s Department Monday. They were asking for the public for help identify her.

If you recognize her, call the San Marcos Sheriff’s Station and ask for Detective Monica Brown at 760-510‐5236.

When ordering items online, law enforcement offered the following tips:

  • Choose the option to sign for delivery
  • Use tracking numbers
  • Track the delivery status with email or text alerts
  • Ship packages to an alternate locations, such as your office
  • Leave special delivery instructions, example: behind bushes, back patio
  • Choose delivery pickup
  • Insure packages
  • Get to know your carriers
  • Report suspicious activity or vehicles to sheriff’s department 858-565-5200
