Motorcyclist dies after hitting pickup

SAN DIEGO — A motorcyclist who allegedly ran a red light in Bay Ho was killed Saturday morning after he hit a pickup truck, authorities said.

The 55-year-old man was pronounced dead at a local hospital shortly after the 9 a.m. collision at the intersection of Morena Boulevard and Avati Drive. The 61-year-old man who was driving the 2004 Chevrolet truck was not injured, according to Officer Frank Cali of the San Diego Police Department.

The truck driver was making a left turn from westbound Avati Drive to southbound Morena Boulevard when the rear of the truck was hit by the motorcyclist, who was riding a 2006 Harley-Davidson, Cali said.
