SAN DIEGO — A commercial-grade explosive found in a vehicle in Lincoln Park was safely removed Saturday by the San Diego Fire Rescue’s bomb unit, according to authorities.

The call came in Saturday morning after a man, who was cleaning out a late-model El Camino that he had recently purchased, found the silver, cylindrical explosive, according to San Diego Fire Capt. Joe Amador.

It appeared to be a professional firework, Amador said.

San Diego Police officers were called to the 4900 block of Magnus Way in a residential neighborhood. They called in the bomb squad, which confiscated the explosive after a few hours on scene.
