2 injured in fire at condominium complex

SAN DIEGO -- Two people were injured in a fire at a condominium complex in Rancho Bernardo Monday morning.

The blaze at the two-story apartment building  in the 11400 block of Avenida de los Lobos near Paseo Montanoso was reported shortly after 7 a.m., according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.

When Firefighter arrived, smoke and flames were seen coming from a unit on the first floor. They  evacuated the building and knocked down the blaze in about 30 minutes.

Two people who lived in the same apartment unit were injured in the blaze. One was taken to Pomorado Hospital in Poway and the other was being treated in the burn unit at University of California San Diego Medical Center. The extent of their injuries was not known.

The cause of the fire and a financial estimate of damage it caused were not immediately available.

The Red Cross was called to help residents displaced by the fire find temporary housing.
