SAN DIEGO – A dog fighting ring linked to Los Angeles County was broken up in Linda Vista Wednesday morning, San Diego police said.

Nine pit bulls, who were bred and trained for fighting, were found at the duplex near Westinghouse and East Westinghouse drives, investigators said. One unidentified person was arrested at the location.

SDPD worked with Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department to uncover the illegal dog fighting operation.  A sting in LA County led investigators to the San Diego location.

The dogs were bred and trained in the U.S. and would be taken across to Mexico to fight, investigators said.
