Suspect in gas station robbery found hiding under bush

A man suspected of robbing a Palm City-area gas station was arrested as he attempted to hide from responding police officers, authorities said Monday.

SAN DIEGO — A man suspected of robbing an Otay Mesa-area gas station was arrested Sunday as he attempted to hide from responding police officers.

The suspect, whose identity was not available, held up the Chevron station in the 3300 block of Palm Avenue shortly after 10:30 p.m. Sunday.

He fled with an undisclosed amount and headed south on Picador Boulevard.

Shortly afterward, officers spotted a man matching the suspect’s description. He ran, but was later found hiding under a bush.

A witness identified him and items taken during the robbery were found during a subsequent search, according to the officer. He was taken into custody on suspicion of robbery.
