SAN DIEGO — A bicyclist was hospitalized with a serious head injury Saturday after a vehicle stuck him in the Pacific Beach neighborhood, according to the San Diego Police Department.

The man, 53, was riding his bike west in the 800 block of Hornblend Street and passed a stop sign without stopping, Officer Frank Cali said.

The bicyclist continued into the intersection of Hornblend and Mission Boulevard, and was then struck by a BMW, Cali said.

The 35-year-old man driving the BMW was traveling north on Mission Boulevard and not injured, Cali added.

While it was unclear whether the driver would face any charges, the SDPD Traffic Unit is investigating what happened, Cali said.
