Woman suffers major brain injury after bus hits her

SAN DIEGO — A woman was seriously injured after a city bus hit her while she crossed a Core-Columbia intersection Monday, authorities said.

The 33-year-old woman was crossing the 1300 block of Front Street in a crosswalk when the Metropolitan Transit System vehicle hit her shortly before 7:30 a.m., according to San Diego police.

Medics took her to a hospital for treatment of a brain hemorrhage. She was expected to survive, Officer Dan Lasher said.

Police do not suspect alcohol was involved.
