Man rescued after falling from Sunset Cliffs

SAN DIEGO -- A 31-year-old man was rescued Sunday afternoon after he fell off an edge of Sunset Cliffs.

The accident happened around 3:50 p.m. near the 700 block of Sunset Cliffs Boulevard, according to San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.

Rescuers told FOX 5 that the man was flying a toy plane or helicopter by remote control. When it crashed on the rocks below, the man went after it. Along the way, he lost his footing and fell approximately 20 feet.

The man fractured his leg but is expected to be OK. He was airlifted to UC San Diego Medical Center.
