Motorist drives away after hitting student near school

Student hit by car in front of Lincoln High School.

SAN DIEGO — A Lincoln High School student was hit by a car near the school Wednesday morning and the driver did not stop, police said.

The collision near the campus on Imperial Avenue near South 47th Street  in the Lincoln Park neighborhood was reported shortly after 9 a.m., according to San Diego police Officer Frank Cali.

Cali said a possible suspect was later stopped about three miles away on Division Street near Valencia Parkway.

Eastbound Imperial Avenue was closed at South 47th Street as officers investigated, according to the officer.

Police said the student was taken to a hospital and the extent of the injuries were unknown.  Although, the student was seen talking to medics when he was placed in an ambulance.
