SAN DIEGO — A hit-and-run driver fled from the site of a crash in the Lincoln Park neighborhood, leaving his passenger and an injured pedestrian behind, police said Thursday.

The driver of a white sedan initially stopped after hitting a 74-year- old man attempting to cross Solola Avenue near 47th Street shortly after 5:30 p.m. Wednesday. But after he and his passenger got out to check on the victim, the driver hopped back into the car and sped off, San Diego police Officer Dino Delimitros said.

The female passenger walked away shortly afterward, Delimitros said.

The pedestrian suffered internal injuries and a broken pelvis in the crash but is expected to recover, according to the officer.
