SAN DIEGO – San Diego police are not investigating a City College student’s claim that she was sexually assaulted in a campus parking garage, a lieutenant said Wednesday.

City College police handed the investigation to SDPD’s sex crimes unit, but a lieutenant said, “The victim has chosen not to move forward.  We are not actively working a case.”

On Tuesday, San Diego Community College District Police Chief Ray Aguirre said his department received a report of a woman who was raped in a parked car inside the City College V building parking structure at 1081 16th Street at 12:45 p.m.

The victim, who said she met the man on Tinder.com, got into his car and they proceeded to the parking structure, where he parked, according Aguirre. She claimed the man sexually assaulted her.

City College students received an alert about the assault from campus police around 3 p.m. Tuesday.

Anyone with information about the investigation can call college police at 619-388-6405.
