Sex assault reported in City College parking garage

SAN DIEGO – A City College student was sexually assaulted in a campus parking structure by a man she met on Tinder, campus police said Tuesday.

City College police said they received a report of a woman who was raped in a parked car inside the City College V building parking structure at 1081 16th Street at 12:45 p.m.

The victim met the man on and arranged to meet in front of the campus, according to the San Diego Community College District Police Chief Ray Aguirre.  She got into his light silver Dodge Charger and they proceeded to the parking structure, where he parked, Aguirre said.

College police are searching for the suspect identified as “Benjamin,” a 25-26 years old Hispanic man with a mustache and a beard along his jaw, according to Aguirre. The suspect was last seen wearing a black t-shirt and driving the Charger with a white racing stripe over the hood.

The victim reported that her attacker had a machete in the back seat of the vehicle, police said.

City College students received an alert about the assault from campus police around 3 p.m.
