SAN DIEGO -- Three men broke into a Rancho Bernardo-area home early Friday, tied-up the couple who lives there and robbed them of cash and jewelry.

No one was injured during the break-in in the 11000 block of Aliento Court near Cabela Drive around 3:45 a.m., but the residents were tied up in their bedroom with shoe laces at gunpoint, San Diego police Officer frank Cali said. The robbers escaped with cash and jewelry.

San Diego police Lt. Kevin Mayer told reporters the victims eventually broke free and were able to call for help from a neighbor's house.

Police said the robbers were wearing black clothing, masks and lights on their heads.
