SAN DIEGO –  White smoke from a dumpster fire in the East Village could be seen for miles Thursday.

The fire started around 1:30 p.m. on Island Avenue, just a few blocks from Petco Park.  A picture taken by FOX 5 viewer Steve Lucido shows white smoke in the middle of East Village.

Fire crews responded quickly and were able to get it out before it caused too much damage.  No word on what started the fire.
