Detectives went to Park Boulevard Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Office at 4067 Park Boulevard to investigate a patient's claim that she was assaulted by 36-year-old Luis Ramos.
“The victim was there for a dental procedure and was under some anesthesia. As she was awakening -- is when the conduct occurred," said Capt. Brian Ahearn.
The El Cajon resident was charged with two counts of oral copulation by means of anesthetic and two counts of sexual battery of a medically incapacitated person. The bail has been set at $2 million.
The business was cooperative with investigators and evidence was taken by detectives leading to the arrest of Ramos, a dental assistant employed by the surgery center, police said.
Upon learning from a police detective about the allegations last week, the clinic suspended Ramos without pay pending resolution of the criminal case, general manager Chasity Daniel said.
Ramos had been employed by the surgical center since September 2013.
"He came highly recommended in the industry ... (and) had a stellar resume,'' Daniel said.
It is unknown if there are additional victims, police said.
Maricela Juarez, a patient, said she recently had a procedure that involved Ramos.
“What happened to me when I was put out? I know the second time he was my assistant, but the first time it was a girl. It just has me thinking 'what’s really going on?'" said Juarez.
