SAN DIEGO -- A local auto dealership is hoping to track down those responsible for stealing two brand-new vehicles valued around $100,000 over the past month.

Surveillance video taken at the Rancho Chrysler Jeep Dodge dealership in Kearny Mesa caught a man stealing 2016 Ram diesel truck worth about $50,000 on Jan. 27. The man can be seen walking through the gate in a back lot, looking around and getting into the truck.

“He just sits there in the truck for about ten to fifteen seconds. Gets in like he had the key or someone left the key in the truck, then just drives out the back fence, makes a left and he’s gone," said Shon Craft, a service director at the dealership.

It happened during business hours, in broad daylight. Craft believes the man had help.

“It had to have been an inside job. Somebody had some key inside information as to where that truck was and exactly at what time," Craft said.

About a week earlier, someone stole a brand new Jeep Grand Cherokee from an off-site lot.

Craft believes the thefts are linked. The dealership is working with San Diego police to find suspects.

The dealership is also offering a $2,500 reward for information about who is responsible.

Anyone with a tip can call the dealership at 858-560-7100.
