Mom and her son hit in school crosswalk

ENCINITAS, Calif. – A mother and her 4-year-old son were hurt while crossing the street in Encinitas Monday morning.

A car hit the mom and boy near Park Dale Elementary School just before 8 a.m.  A helicopter took the boy to Rady Children’s Hospital.

People who live in the area told FOX 5 they constantly see people speeding on the street. Although officials have not said if speed played a role in the crash.

Their conditions were unknown as of Monday afternoon.
