SAN DIEGO -- A family was tied up and held at gunpoint early Friday while thieves ransacked their home in the Scripps Ranch area, authorities said.

Three men broke into the home in the 11000 block of Fortino Point near Scripps Preserve Road shortly before 3 a.m., San Diego police Officer Frank Cali said. They tied up the members of the family before searching the house. The robbers escaped with cash, credit cards and jewelry.

After the men left, family members called police. They told investigators that the robbers were wearing dark bandanas and dark clothing, but they could not provide more detailed descriptions.
