ECUADOR – Officers in Ecuador saved a terrified sloth from the side of a highway in the most adorable rescue mission ever.

According to Carlos Lotufo, social media manager for Ecuador´s Transit Commission, last Friday a group of officers was patrolling a new highway in Quevedo when they noticed a sloth struggling to cross the highway. They immediately stopped the car to check on the sloth.

Officer Bustamante and Officer Aguayo rescued the sloth and took it to a veterinarian.

The vet said the little guy was in good health, and the officers took the sloth back to its habitat. They said it was pretty calm, and it seemed happy!

According to Lotufo, it is very rare to find sloths outside their natural habitat.
