Sigalert issued after severed body found on South Bay freeway
SAN DIEGO — A person was killed in an apparent crash on state Route 905 in Otay Mesa Friday morning.
The victim’s body parts were spotted alongside the westbound lanes, east of Interstate 5, shortly before 6 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
A 32-year-old woman from San Diego had pulled over near the accident scene. She told CHP investigators that she was headed westbound on Route 905 and as she approached the transition ramp to northbound I-5, a man tried to run across the freeway in front of her and she hit him. She pulled over and several other cars mayh have hit the body.
Visibility may have been very poor due to heavy fog at the time of the accident, according to the CHP.
Westbound lanes on SR 905 and the connector to Interstate 5 were closed, according to the CHP and Caltrans. A SigAlert was issued and westbound traffic on state Route 905 was being diverted onto southbound Interstate 5.
