The ticket sold at a 7-Eleven store located at 290 I Street was one of 12 such tickets in California.
Paul Pineda purchased the 10 $2 Quick Pick tickets for himself and three coworkers. He told the California Lottery he organized the pool and bought the tickets Jan. 9 after he heard the jackpot had spiked to what at that time was a record jackpot of $1.3 billion.
The holders of that ticket will collect $638,146. After taxes, it is estimated the take home payout will be near $390,000.
“I really never check my tickets the night of the drawing,” Pineda told California Lottery. “I sent out a text picture of the tickets to everyone in the pool. They were all calling me Thursday morning after the drawing and saying we had won!"
The other 11 were sold in Cloverdale, Gardena, Irwindale, Nipton, Pacoima, Redlands, Santa Cruz, Santa Monica, Santa Rosa, Tustin and Vacaville.
