LARGO, Fla. – A former Marine’s final Facebook post is going viral after he was killed by an alleged drunken driver on New Year’s Eve.

Matthew DeRemer, 31, was riding his motorcycle in Largo, Florida when he was hit by 59-year-old Steven Lee Clarke, Fox 13 News reports. DeRemer died at the scene while Clarke was arrested and later charged with DUI manslaughter.

Hours before he passed, DeRemer posted a message on Facebook reflecting on obstacles he overcame in 2015 and appearing hopeful for 2016.

Last day of 2015!!!! For me I’ll be meditating through all I do, on this entire year. I’ve lost, I’ve gained, family is closer and tougher than ever before, loved ones lost, and new friends found. There has been many times where I’ve been found on my knees in prayer for hours (relentless) and other times leading a group of people in prayer, my faith (that I love to share) is an everyday awakening(to me) that people, lives, and circumstances can change for the better OVER TIME. I look back at 2015’s huge challenges that I’ve overcome, shared with others, and have once again found myself… To say thank you and BRING ON 2016, much works to be done!

The last sentence of his post was the most chilling.

And I really don’t know where I’ll end up tonight but I do know where I windup is where I’m meant to be

Friends and family members began sharing the post and it eventually went viral.

DeRemer was a Marine veteran who was just hired in the medical field, Fox 13 News reported.

Please note that there is LEGALLY no such thing as a former Marine.. he is a Marine.. and died a Marine.. and in a way that honors so many.

A Marine is a Marine. I set that policy two weeks ago – there’s no such thing as a former Marine. You’re a Marine, just in a different uniform and you’re in a different phase of your life. But you’ll always be a Marine because you went to Parris Island, San Diego or the hills of Quantico. There’s no such thing as a former Marine. – General James F. Amos (35th Commandant of the Marine Corps)

Breathalyzer in order to start a vehical, I think it’s time. Too many intixicated individules getting behind the wheel because they feel they are “okay to drive”. How can we leave it to them to make such a rational decision when they are not capable. How many lives lost before we take it out of their hands for them.

So everyone should have higher insurance and a machine that costs hundreds just to drive their car when they Dont even drink. Let me guess. You think if all the guns get taken away from law abiding citizens then the bad his will turn in theirs? Get real and live in the world of today
