SAN DIEGO – A FOX 5 viewer woke up, turned on the news and got the shock of his life Wednesday morning.

"I woke up. I turned on FOX 5 to get ready for work, and then this popped up on my screen. So I ran down," owner Adam Marshall said. "I'm pretty shocked. I'm not really sure what to do."

The sight that popped up on Marshall's screen was video of his recently purchased 1962 Cadillac Coupe de Ville. He had parked it on Fir Street, a few blocks from his home in South Park. Overnight, a tall palm tree on the other side of the street toppled and landed on his classic car, crushing the roof and the door on the driver's side.

Marshall said he had purchased the beautifully restored car from a friend two months ago.

The palm tree also busted the rear window of a brand new BMW that was parked near it.

The street was shut down for several hours while city workers cut up the tree and removed it from the roadway.
