SANTEE, Calif. – A pastor had given up hope in finding a family heirloom he lost, until an extremely alert and faithful driver took action.
Pastor Mike Humphrey of the Rock Church thought his Bible was lost forever.
“It was a journaling Bible. I would write in the margins," said Pastor Humphrey. "I planned to give it to my son when he turns 13.”
Humphrey accidentally left his Bible on the roof of his car and drive off. By the time he remembered, the Bible was no longer on the roof.
“I don’t know what made me even look in its direction…I just said 'oh look a Bible' and I then pulled over," Kim McMillan said. "People were all honking at me, but I just grabbed it and got out of there."
With the leather-bound Bible bearing the pastors name, McMillan set to work searching for him using Facebook. McMillan’s post went viral with hundreds of comments and thousands of "likes" from across the country.
Eventually Kim found Pastor Humphrey and returned the Bible to him.
Humphrey said tire tracks across the front page of his Bible are just a reminder of just how close this heirloom came to being forgotten family history.
