SAN DIEGO -- San Diego police officers are looking for the people responsible for shooting a woman who was sitting in her bedroom Thursday night in Encanto.
Police said the woman was hit by a stray bullet as two groups of gang members argued on a street outside her house on the 500 block of 64th Street.
The shooting took place around 7:20 p.m.
"One of the groups produced a weapon and as one group was fleeing, the other group shot at the group fleeing. One round went into the residence, striking the victim," said Lt. Jason Weeden of San Diego Police Department.
The people involved in the shooting fled the scene before officers arrived.
The victim was taken to an area hospital with a gunshot wound to the shoulder. Her injuries were described as non-life-threatening.
