SAN DIEGO -- Authorities asked the public Wednesday for help in identifying a motorist who fled after her car struck and badly injured a toddler on a Mira Mesa street.

The hit-and-run collision occurred early on the afternoon of Nov. 30, when 2-year-old David Serrano rode a scooter away from his parents at Mesa Viking Park and crossed into the path of a late 1990s-model Honda Accord in the 11200 block of Westonhill Drive, according to police.

After the teal-colored sedan hit the child, the motorist, who appeared to be in her 60s, continued on to the north and left the area. Medics took the victim to a hospital for treatment of serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

It will be four weeks until David will be able to walk on his own as three fractured hip bones continue to heal. After spending two days at Rady Children's Hospital, tests showed he had no internal bleeding, to the relief of his parents.

Anyone with information on the identity or location of the driver or her vehicle was asked to call San Diego County Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477, or contact the agency online at Tipsters may remain anonymous and could be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.

How about just the tiniest bit of police work in releasing the license plate #?

    C’mon, a little help here?

So you think the cops would ask for help on a news website, but then hold back information that could help in this person’s capture? Think about that for a second…
If they don’t provide it….. now hold on this might be too much info for you….. maybe they don’t have it? It’s possible the driver fled so fast they couldn’t take down the plate number. If I saw a 2-year old get hit by a car, yes I would want to find the driver and beat them senseless but my immediate concern would be the well-being of that kid.
