Mother of baby found buried alive arrested
LOS ANGELES – Just over a week after a newborn girl was found buried alive under a pile of debris along a bike path in Compton, authorities on Sunday announced that her mother has been arrested, KTLA reported.
The arrest, made by Special Victims Bureau detectives, was the “result of multiple leads generated due to the public’s and media’s assistance in this case,” the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said in a statement.
The woman’s identity and the status of the recovering infant, along with details of the arrest, will be disclosed at a Monday morning news conference, according to the Sheriff’s Department.
The mother’s booking photo was not expected to be released, due to the “ongoing nature of the case,” the news release said.
