FORT WAYNE, Indiana -- An Indiana animal shelter is all out of adoptable pets.
The shelter ran a Black Friday deal during which puppy adoptions, normally $100 only cost $10. Customers were allowed to name their own price on cats. The result? An empty shelter, WTVR reported.
"It brought out people in droves. Hundreds of people came by that day and we adopted all of our available pets that day," Jodi Hamilton, with Fort Wayne Animal Care & Control, said. "It's actually very exciting. I know that people waiting to visit our dogs this morning were very disappointed, but it was such an exciting thing for us because it's so rare that we have adopted all of the dogs that we had available for adoption. They've all gone home. It's so beautiful and wonderful for all of us to see that happen."
About 30 dogs and cats found new homes after the Thanksgiving weekend. Just because the adoptable dogs and cats are all gone does not mean there as no work at the shelter to be done.
"There's always something to do, we have dogs available in the back that we're temperament testing currently for the potential to come into our adoption program," Hamilton said. "The majority of the time, the kennels are full. So this is kind of a really fun moment for all of us to celebrate and kind of stop and take a deep breath and say wow, this is why we're here."
