FALLBROOK, Calif. — A man who allegedly went into four Fallbrook apartments in quick succession early Wednesday and sexually assaulted two women in different apartment units was arrested a short time later, authorities said.
The spate of early morning home invasions occurred in the area of Alturas and Ammunition roads, according to sheriff’s officials.
Deputies investigating the first of the crimes heard screams coming from a nearby residence shortly after 2:30 a.m. and saw a man running off through the neighborhood, Lt. Dan Brislin said. They gave chase and captured the suspect, identified as 22-year-old Michael Anthony Espinoza of Fallbrook.
Espinoza was booked into county jail in Vista on suspicion of rape, assault, sexual penetration with a foreign object and four counts of residential burglary.
He was being held on $1.4 million bail pending arraignment, scheduled for Friday afternoon.
