CARLSBAD, Calif. - It's been a year since a North County single mother of four collapsed and nearly died while jogging along Carlsbad State Beach. She survived thanks to a Good Samaritan.
On Tuesday, 38-year-old Jessica Hoover reunited with David, who she calls her guardian angel.
Hoover was jogging along Tamarack Beach when she collapsed. David, who was vacationing in Carlsbad, was riding his bike and noticed her lifeless body with around 20 people standing around. He jumped into action and performed CPR until paramedics arrived.
It turns out that Hoover's heart was attacked by a virus. Prior to the incident, she had no history of heart issues. Since recovering and being released from the hospital, her heart functions at 30 percent.
Her friends have set up online fundraiser for the Hoover family.
