SAN DIEGO -- Just as thousands of Southern California residents hit the roads and airways for the Thanksgiving holiday, the U.S. State Department issued a worldwide travel alert Monday "due to increased terrorist threats.''

The alert, which does not suggest that people should cancel travel plans, notes that ISIS and other terrorist groups "continue to plan terrorist attacks in multiple regions,'' and advises travelers to exercise caution while in public places or using public transportation and to be aware of their surroundings.

The alert will remain in effect until Feb. 24.

According to the alert, terrorist groups "may employ a wide variety of tactics, using conventional and non-conventional weapons and targeting both official and private interests.''

"U.S. citizens should exercise vigilance when in public places or using transportation,'' according to the alert. "Be aware of immediate surroundings and avoid large crowds or crowded places. Exercise particular caution during the holiday season and at holiday festivals or events. U.S. citizens should monitor media and local information sources and factor updated information into personal travel plans and activities. Persons with specific safety concerns should contact local law enforcement authorities who are responsible for the safety and security of all visitors to their host country.''

The alert also advised travelers to be prepared for additional security screening and possible disruptions and to keep in touch with relatives to ensure they can make contact in the event of an emergency.

Wow, Is America this dumb or is the government that treats them dumb? Is it then that some Americans reciprocate how they are treated by the government and then act dumb? How does this travel alert change anything for anyone…I mean really…

  • Dumb...

No, Americans have stooped to a new level of low. When they vote they think that a tax increase is necessary to fix infrastructure and improve schools when in fact any money you give perpetuates government waste, buddy hookups, and working spaces more luxurious than most of our houses. The only way to stop this madness is to say no to bonds, taxes, assessments on any ballots you see then insist the government do a better job with the crazy amount of money we already give them!!

so America…what is our plan? Do we have a plan? We have plans for the day AFTER an attack. Why don’t we have a plan for the day BEFORE an attack? Thanks for worse than nothing….in every possible way….dear government.

  • Idiot liberals

The best thing that could happen is to have a huge incident in a liberal city.

Think of the savings in obamaphones and EBT cards alone!
